To be honest, I find it a lot easier to subscribe to a VPN that allows you to watch it live/on-demand.

I've been doing this for years until I can easily get the shows I want for free.

Obviously, this product is design for those who have little knowledge or the know-how and to use it on a TV. You are paying for the work and the hardware so that someone else does it for you.!

To be honest, VPN is cool and all, but it's a TV experience with real remote that you use on sofa.

VPN = a subscription, TVPad = no subscription.

As I've said, it is for those who buy for the convenience and I am just speaking for my point of view with these gadgets with relatively short lifespan. I find having a small keyboard with Touchpad is the same. I've bought up potential warning with the many MIC products, there is no guarantee that the service will last indefinitely. They could just close down the service one day or release a newer box so everyone has to buy another one.

For $240, I can get about 30-36 months of VPN service with multiple exit points around the world, and I highly doubt the TVPad will last that long without any kind of "upgrade". Someone has to make money somewhere or/and to sustain the service. Obviously, my reason to use VPN is not just for TV, it's for US contents and shopping as well.

I like this product very much but seeing the other boxes like OPlay, BoxOffice, GoogleTV with more capability, I am just doing a bit of comparison.

真係好想睇demo,先至安心,兩舊幾唔算貴,但假如得物無所用就多件垃圾。
尤其話直播節目,究竟係real time ...

There's a 1-week trial period.  Return it if you don't like it.

They have their own streaming servers that streams HK TV out of some Canton province.  They don't rely on other china websites for live streams, so the streams will not be easily banned / blocked.

The service has launched for years and reliability has been quite good, according to TVPad's official forum.

AFAIK, Yaohan 2nd floor has a TVPad set up, but that store sells it at ~$300.  You guys are welcome  ...

Yes, TVPad should work for it.  It has Live stream AND an alternate 12-hr delay stream.

I finally have one set up.

Something I noticed...

- TVPad's 粵海 live stream quality > 12-hr delay stream quality, smooth
- TVPad's 粵海 on-demand quality ~= RMVB HD, complete TVB series, up-to-date, smooth, this would be my preferred way to watch drama
- has many hk, tw, cn, and korean channels live stream, in SD ~VCD / semi HD quality
- many movies, old and new, with sound track selection.  ~DVD quality
- android based, many things are app based.  like Sport app for sport content, health app for health-related content- hardware is pretty solid, small and compact, good remote with english labels.

Parents love it.  Cutting Fairchild soon.

No.  It's same for Shaw box, you can't use one box to output to 4 different TVs.  If you really need 4 output, you'll need 4 boxes.

I use media players (one per TV) which could access files anywhere from my home network.  Say, my wife download HK drama on her laptop, I could then watch it from our TV downstairs or from our bedroom.  Media player is pretty cheap these days that could play back HD quality.  It is basically close to a NAS setup.
