hahaha... I 100% agreed... my umbrella got stolen once and since then any expensive umbrella I brought with me I kept it very closely with me all the time but my solution also is, NEVER buy any expensive umbrella again

even in a restaurant? you never put it into the bucket they provided? some restaurant insist you to put it inside bor....

I think if you have the umbrella specific plastic bags to put it in, you should be fine.

I dunt like to carry umbrella in Vancouver
I will sometimes in HK, cuz most places (malls/restuarants) provide the plastic cover thingy for umbrellas.

We seldom carry umbrella in Vancouver either since we are lazy.  The rain here was never heavy and people usually just need to walk to/from their vehicles.

However, when we went back to HK this year, we figure we have to carry umbrella.  Not only because of the rain could be stupidly heavy, but more important is that the sun is too bright for us to handle.
