The Chinese did the right thing. All these foreign reporters are just trying to interfere with Chinese affairs, even when the western financial system is crumbling, and still fighting the war in Iraq. But they never learn, that is why the western financial system will continue to slump.
Just look at those western reporters. they look so cocky and annoying.

You guys have absolutely no idea of what freedom of the press means. Cops wouldn't dare to touch a reporter nor his equipment when proper credentials have been presented. VPD inappropriately handled a similar case earlier and Chief Chu had to immediately issue a press conference to apologize to the newspaper in order to avoid getting scorned.

Democracy and freedom of speech does not guarantee the complete elimination of free speech interference nor the intervention of free press. Instead, it only minimizes it. Instead, their inherent power lies in the fact that the democratic system offers a recourse (through the courts) to right the wrong that has been committed. Interfere with the press and you face the full wrath and scorn of the entire industry and the citizens. If you do nothing to rectify the problem, the matters will be settled at the courts.

Is there such recourse in Mainland China? The CCP and the courts are so tightly intertwined that they are one and the same. Suppress free speech in PRC, and there is no recourse for the media and its people.

(Thankfully, the tides are slowly starting to shift, and the CCP understands the irreversibility of the tides as well, which is precisely why they try this hard to silence it.)
