About My Iphone 3Gs

i have 3-year contract with FiDx for my iphone
Here is the situation:
1) i just bought a new Samsung phone fr. Taiwan, so i guess i can just put my fidx sim card in, and continueing my fidx service, am i right? Do i have to inform fidx about this change?
2) i want to give my iphone to my dad who uses rogex's prepaid phone card.  What's the best way for 'us' to do: my dad switch to fidx and he can simply insert the fidx sim card to my iphone and use it?  OR i unlock the iphone so that he can put his rogex sim card in ? if i unlock the iphone, can my dad use it with sim cards bought in HK/Taiwan/Mainland China?

sorry, i m not a 'tech' person, plesae Advise!!! THANKS alot!!

1) You do not need to inform Fidx when you switch phones and they don't need to know

2) Since your Dad is using prepaid phone card (I assume that's Pay As You Go that you buy when you used up the minutes), unless he wants to switch to a monthly plan, there's no need to switch to Fidx. Have your iPhone unlocked and you can use any carrier that uses sim card

I think u have to use "EDGE" ..  same problem to my SE ..  I got "E" logo on the phone, but not "3G" ..

I think Rogers/Fido uses 3G 850/1900.
in taiwan and HK it's 3G 2100 (frequency)
You need to double check to see if your phone covers other frequency.

okyee... there are different versions of Samsung Wave (there is one for Canada as far as my search goes)
Hopefully this is not the one you have:

3GSupport : HSDPA 900 / 2100 MHz (3G is NOT Compatible in US & CA)
