DSLR Calibration at Lower Mainland

本帖最後由 lo_pak 於 2010-9-22 14:52 編輯

Anyone here has the chance to calibrate the cams locally? If so, how does it cost usuallly?

On web, people are talking about Vancam & Camtex, are they good?

i am suffering the same thing.  Wait a bit I can tell you how it goes.

My camera is with Canon Canada.  And it doesn't look good.  I am not really to part with my camera for 15-20 business day. (They told me it will take 10 business day at the beginning)

What happens to your camera?

Nothing big, just think it's slightly out of focus...

Why don't you just adjust the AF tuning?

Most the time, just minor front focus or back focus, u can set the camera to ~ +5/-5 something like that ..

Since lens cal will be ~$150

Mine is only a 40D, it doesn't have the minor adjustment function...

AF tuning is sooo nice.

Don't bother to sent it to Canon. $290 mini to have anything done to it. Doesn't make any sense of and old camera.

Or just pay an extra $1500 to upgrade to Mark II to have AF fine turning.  Or I just wait until 5D Mark III (hope by the time the AF is usable.)

From the net, people are saying that the proposed 5D MKIII will be like a heavy armed "full frame" 7D + stronger sensor and it will be released as early as next February.

I will be upgrading to the 5DII after the 5DIII release and hoping the used price range ~ CAD1,800.

Depend on what you do.  5DII is probably good for many many years.
Also, B&H photo have a $500 rebate on 5DII if you buy a high end printer at the same time.  Sell the printer, and you have a brand new 5DII for around $2000.
