the answer to your question is
the occasion being maanmo's third try at photographing the dragon boat race
this year i am  disappointed because i did not capture something that satisfy my
photographic imagination
so after  picking  the best photo ,  i judged the photo to be too flat
and applied photoshop's  2 easiest tools,  cropping and blurring

maanmo of course contiunes to play with camera,
just that nothing seems to be worth posting

here is another shot at the fireworks this summer
one week after  the lightning storm

does it matter whether it  is south africa or china , probably not
this time its a new location, with people around me

where as , for the lightning shot,  maanmo was alone
i find i like to do photography alone, with no people around me

but in case of people photography,,  like shooting models,
scott kelby , in his books on photography explained very well, why the photographer should talk all the time , sending out vibrations to the model,  helping to keep the
model in top performing shape

the reason why maanmo post this pic now is
as follows
if the portrait photographer does not talk, the subject may loose  enthusiam,   becoming cold and lifeless, full of anxiety
similarly if the camera player does not post photos for a long time , the photographer will loose  enthusiasm
keep the interests in photography warm , by posting photos

the 4th year ? may be its the 5th year, maanmo post a moon pic on this forum

maanmo has just acquired 2 old cameras



2 and 1/2 years after using the old olympus c740  3 megapixel 10x (2003  $80)
the first one is fujifilm finepix a345 (2005 )
the second one is a conon  sd700 is (2006)

learning to use a different camera usually takes many days
i like the finepix a345 , a 4 megapixel 3x  compact point and shoot,
quite an improvement  over the finepix z2650 , i used for a year about 3 years ago, 2 megapixel 3x
  smaller in size, ( the first compact camera i ever carry ) bigger  LCD

  i have not taken any interesting photos yet, with this finepix a345
  which is , i believe , usual experience for people trying out new cameras
so i combined 2 photos into one,



as to the canon, i put my heel on it right away.
as you know, maanmo like to put the heel the the canon g10

putting the heel on any canon camera is a good way to get to know it better
as a result, this canon cannot take pictures
but maanmo is very impressed with the reviews on this canon
being a first Digital ELPH with optical image stabilization system
its introduction price almost touched $500

it is fate of maanmo, that maanmo never shoot with a canon
nonetheless , it is educational, heeling it hard...
picking up the pieces , i look at at with boundless admiration
the brain of the camera is just a small piece of circuit board with 2 small black chips the size of a dragonfly's eyes

yesterday, maanmo , being a traditionalist, take the pet cam out for a walk,

to capture the chinese new year parade and  the olympic celebrations

maanmo sees so many DSLR s, and so many other cams  
maanmo does not know, what photos these cameras take

but maanmo is particularly fasinated with a bosom  in  the world with booming blossoms
