Nobody ever said Canada's legal system is perfect. As a matter of fact, it is far from perfect. But at the very least, the Canadian system is far more consistent in terms of the penalties that are handed out. China, on the other hand, is extremely biased towards the rich and powerful.
More importantly, when constable Jimmy Ng's case was taking place, do you see any media sensorship on the whole entire proceedings? Were people allowed to show their anger in public? Did you see 陳耀春's family trying to buy off Constable Jimmy Ng's family through a lavish settlement payment, with the government pressuring Constable Ng's family to accept?
In every possible aspect, Mainland China's legal system is lightyears behind Canada's system. The simple fact that you are guilty until proven innocent in China is enough proof to see how backwards their system is.
