When economy is bad, the living quality of "general public" is bad...
When economy is good (as some proclaimed), the living quality of "general public" gets even worse... ... What's the point of having good economy? Seems like good economy only benefit rich people in HK... Wonder what's the "actual productivity" other than blowing asset bubble?
When the economy is bad, everybody suffers. Most people can understand that.
When the economy is good in HK, the quality of life for the HK general public still suffers because society in HK is so twisted and warped that only the rich and super wealthy are able to reap the fruits of the economic development. The SAR government's policies only benefit the rich through ultra high real estate prices, which is why HK has turned into the worst city in the world for wealth disparity. In a more sensible government, social programs and other wealth redistribution methods are used to spread those economic gains more evenly among people in different economic / social classes, but the SAR government hardly does any of that. The puny social programs they run are barely enough to keep those in poverty and the grassroot sector fed.
That is why 民怨 and 民憤 is at an all time high. And yet the Establishment continues to stir the publics emotions up through additional policies and iron-fisted crackdown on protests.
