To me ..  2 la..  

Yes, it is a bit "post-process" (build in or not)  but make a ordinary photo looks more dynamic .. ^_^

Similar to "convert" colour pic to B&W, (I doubt people use B/W film to take PURE BW pic) just to make boring photos to look not as boring ..

#1 is more natural but I don't like the top right which is a bit too dark.
#2 looks like more those scene in the puzzle.
I"m not expert in photography but I think I like #2 more because it's more like a drawing.

At the end of the day, it depends on who your target audience is. Based on the poll, it's clear that the general public prefers #2. So if the general public is who you want to serve, then #2 is better in this sense. But if this was for real publication, #2 would be an instant reject.

to me, photo#1 shows the "river" a little more, whereas photo#2 has the greens a little too rich in colour where it hides all other elements.

I think I'm the odd ball here...

Beside color, the issue I have with no.2 is tones in these HDR(?).

I don't know what the Raw converter is, it sure doesn't like shadows.  It takes away the all shadows when the software trys to expose everything "correctly"  Shadow is photographer's friend too.

Without shadows, everything looks flat?!
