Wife was planning to do fake ceiling earlier and we talked with our contractor a bit.  We weren't planning to DIY but I understood what's roughly involves.

You will be using drywall as the fake ceiling materials.  In your case, you need some way to suspend the fake ceiling.  You could use say 4x2 to build up a frame and then attached it to the real ceiling and walls.  Next, run your wiring and others thru the frame.  Last, you bolt drywall to the frame and then do all the finishing.

If you use the right screws, you shouldn't worry about it falling down.  All the wires will be behind the drywall.  Question is how to run it from your power source and where to put your light switch.  This may require to drill your current wall to connect them.

I don't know what's the 3300K LED.  In my bedroom, I ran LED light strip for decoration purpose and they aren't bright like those in your picture.

led可以在MAIN街Lee's Electronic買, wholesale price, 記得買driver, 啲led長命好多.
不妨, 買多一組, 會變色... 好好玩.

走線就易, 啲牆內木是直走的, 在天花打個孔, 直走條線, 向下, 找對下面有電制就最好.

木工, 如是四方形房, 就容易, 如你真要做, 可以比個圖解比你. 又或者你比個房圖我, 我幫你加整個結構. send 番比你.

木線是整個最高要求的地方(手工finishing), 工具亦是最高要求, 否則結合後效果不好.

走電線既LABOR看來應該AFFORDABLE﹐木工材料與工具加起來應該不便宜。整個工程看來須要兩位技師&三個星期。需要重申慎重考慮...

最麻煩是灰板! 步驟多又塵多. 你做這種圍邊天花, 工序多, 樣樣少少, 除非你自己做, 搞人做唔化算.
做木線真考工夫. 由於所有結構太接近, 要修正平衡finishing的視線很難, 手工及經驗一定要, 任何一樣嘢唔啱位, 都會斜或不平均, 好易睇得出.
反而光同電, 可以變及改.

I'm using the 5m roll with 300 LED.  Maybe I could take a picture for you.  You could buy those 5m roll online for <$40 easily with multi-color and remote.  Lee's price is still too expensive unless you need something immediately.

I agree drywall finishing needs a lot of details.

We ended up not make a fake ceiling but a fake wall instead.  Roughly, it takes my contractor 1 day to setup the frame, 1 day on putting up drywall, and 2 days on finishing, then couple hours on painting.

Unless you are very keen on DIY and can afford the time and error. I would recommend hiring a contractor to do it. It requires more than 1 men, extreme accurate measurement, and the right tools. Your concern with electrical wiring is very valid coz if there's a small mistake, it's very difficult to rectify once the ceiling is already up.

Like B2L2 said, I wanted to make a faux ceiling as well, however, our ceiling height is only standard (not high enough to create a dramatic look. Plus it will be too close to the top of the window), so decided to make a faux wall with shelves and a niche around the bed post instead. We are installing Led lights for a fun effect. Very decorative and practical.
