I watched the video demo at an electrical appliances shop last weekend and realize that those electric cookers with a stainless steel inner pot need to be washed after use. It will take some time but shouldn't be difficulat because the rice is not burnt.
I assume that they are better than the ones with a non-stick coating because the coating will come off eventually.
I am using an electric rice cooker with a coated inner pot and I had already replaced the inner pot once for about $70 a few years ago.
I'm afraid that those coating debris are not good for health and so I'm considering buying a new cooker with a stainless steel inner pot.
I use my rice cooker just to cook rice and nothing else. You're right. It costs about $250 +tax for a small one and $280+tax for a large one. That's why I was wondering if it worths it.
my mom is interested in getting one of the stainless steel inner pot rice cooker. I need to do some research and help her to choose. So let's post things that we find here.
My National from HK has been running strong for over 10 years. I use it to make congee, heat bread and cook rice. I changed the inner pot like 3 times already, each one is about HKD$250. Since last year the inner pot is discontinued so I need to look at new ones soon.
well so far the best rice cooker I've seen is the one my sister has in Japan. It's not electric, it's gas! The rice is done fast (half an hour) with good texture and very fragrant.
And we are not just talking about a replacement of the inner pot as stainless steel. (those are cheap like $45US on amazon) But a new style made by a Taiwan company to claim even cooking of rice. Frankly I am trying to avoid using non-stick cookware.
