做一做aligment  再+埋定期tire rotation
可以確保新tire耐用

我架車6月返黎 架車上hwy好直
到上個月做左aligment 較返晒d toe
上hwy唔止直  加速輕鬆左  
平時轉彎cut線  我點轉 架車就點轉

如果因為點心
而至其他o既損失就無謂啦

Questions:
Where did you car go?  Why does it need to "come back"?  Accident in a body shop before?
Did you notice uneven tire wear?
Did you replace the tires?

You probably misunderstood me.  If there's really a problem, then yes it's stupid not to do WA.  However, if things are fine, you're wasting your money, better throw that in dim sum lor...  At the end of the day, I guess it depends on the driver's knowledge about cars...

i think i know the reason why u are getting 200k with 8 tires: first, those tires doesn't grip very well; how dare do they worn? (of course, some bad traction tires still worn down fast)...i am sure we are not talking about average tires here, yours is possibly below average and since u probably drive slow, they dun get wear out...

imo most ppl changes their tire every 50k to 80k, 100k ain't that much more, have seen tires that gurantee will last 130k or sth; those tires just dun grip! of course, they are cheap and to most ppl, it's worth the money...

maybe i just drive too hard, even an average all season tires dun let me last that long, not to mention some R compounds i am using, or high performance summer tires like RE01R etc...if we are talking about tires that is less than $100ea, in that case alignment does cost quite a lot, 25% of a set of tires!

do u mind to share what car u drive? average usage (like commute from coq to rmd, hwy / city etc)? and the tires u chose?

$40 for wheel alignment check is they give u a print out and tell u "oh ur car is perfect, dun need to adjust anything"....i dun count how many cars i take to my friend's shop in a year (i can say at least over 100), but i can tell u i dun get more than 2 cars a year that alignment will be "perfect" or "within spec" and no need adjustment...

he just bought an used car, car drives perfectly straight and existing tire doesn't show any uneven wear; all camber angles, caster angles were within .1 to .3 diff and all it was not "within spec" was toe; not so off, just off enough to feel a diff after alignment is done ("unfortunately" his existing tires are like 80% new)...

he didn't do his wheel alignment till recently, drove the car for almost 3 months cuz u know, it hurts after purchasing a "new" car. But since he has done it, at least he knows alignment is out of his worries for another while!

my dad drives over 30 years and i can't say he doesn't anything about cars; he probably used to know more than u do (he even knew how to tune carb), but when i got my training done i realize not everything he told me was right...i got confused and i did ask my instructor quite a few stupid questions...

i know there is always "discussion" such like: how long to warm up a car before driving? do i really need to warm up? is 87 octane okay? or do i need 94? how often should i do oil change? should i use synthetic oil? do i really need this tire? can't i use sth cheaper?

i know, these discussion will never end and hey, afterall i doubt i can convince u to change what u think, or other thinks; but at least i tried...

To answer your questions:

- I don't if you consider this slow.  I used to drive 100km rush hour traffic per day 60% hwy and 40% city.  I cruised on hwy at around 120km/h.
- My good old Mystique V6 used to have stock Michelin's MXV4 and Falken's 512.  Of course I got less mileage with Falken cuz they're (only) slightly more grippy.  I was quite surprised with the MXV4 in terms of wet traction and tire life; they last!  Side note, I was still on the first clutch when I sold the car.

The point whether the tire is grippy or not is irrelevant.  When a tires is almost worn down to the indicator and the wear is still even, the alignment shoudl be fine.  Whether it's grippy or not, it just means the length of time that the wear shows up.  With grippy tires, the wear is obvious is a short time of course.

Not bad, $40 to put the heads on for a sanity check.  I have another Civic that probably can use an alignment

For a car that I don't have any history about I'd do a WA.  On that part, I agree with you it's good to have one done.

Luckily, I own my cars since new so I know every little thing about it, how it should feel, etc.  That's why I had a problem with that used Camry cuz I don't know how a good one should feel like.

Aiya ..  doesn't matter la..   we look after our own car ..  in our own ways ..

I just follow whatever manufacture/dealer suggest ..  who wants to spend that much time to THINK about what their cars should do or not should do? who wants to spend time to try to save few hundreds or spend hundreds bucks more??  as long as it is a transportation..  + fun to drive (enjoyment! as I spend more then an hr in my car everyday)  then it is fine la..

Of course, I am referring to ~ 30yr old plus guys ..   for sure 18 yr old and 30 yr old will think different ..  I no longer DIY on my car as much as I was 18 la..

Actually I got my car used in 2006..I was driving a BMW before and that required a tire change every 3 or so years. I think the last time the Lexus got a tire change was back in 2004...so this car's tire has been thru about 4 years of use. But now we're actually not sure if we want to stick with this car or get a new one because the RX300 isn't quite big enough to fit 2 car seats. ha..we are actually considering a minivan now.

It would be a waste to change the tires on a car we are about to sell, right? When trading in for a car, I don't think dealers would consider new tires such an incentive to give us a better price.

How worn are you tires?  If you're trading in, I'd say forget about them.

Just curious, RX300 can't fit 2 car seats?  Even a Corolla can fit two car seats wor...I don't understand.

RX300 can't get 2 car seats??  I dont get it too wor ..  

At least, I know the OLD X5 can fit 3 car seats ..  which RX300 rear seat space is about the same ...

Mini Van ..   Lexus SUV ..   tough call ..  lol

My buddy trade his RX300 to a Mini Van few yr ago too ..  since he needed to carry 2 kids + parents ..
