They don't want to fight.  They don't want to directly get involved.

BUT
- they will get a lot more firearm sales to Japan, Korea, Taiwan ....
- and also much easier for them to convince all the countries around China that China is a threat
- so much easier for convincing the Japanese that they NEED to station in Okinawa and Yokohama FOREVER ....
