noob questions about cars

Just wondering, how did you guys get into cars+/-modding in general? Are there any recommended readings?

Your reply is very helpful, thanks. I did try looking through google long time ago but only some UK website came up.

Honestly, I am far from being able to afford my own car, and I just feel like getting some warm up.

Currently a more realistic car I want is the new Euro Mazda6, but that car seems too new, and my tastes will change inevitably.

I just want some general information about e.g. each component of a car(suspension, etc.) and the aftermarket alternatives, and some basic tech info such as hp-to-weight ratio, etc.
