Jetta Engine Light On After Changing Headlight Bulb

Hi guys,

Here are the specs of my dad's car:

VW Jetta 2000
around 80k in mileage

Problem is after I changed the headlight bulb on the car.  It has burnt out before on the driver side and I had replaced it without any problem.  Today however, after I had replaced the bulb on the passenger side, I started the car, and noticed the engine was stuttering and choking, like it would stall any second.  As well, the EPC, Anti-Slip Regulator and engine lights all came on.  He decided to fidget with the light bulb a little bit and somehow after he did that the EPC and Anti-Slip light went off.  Currently the engine light still stays on.  I had used a motomaster lightbulb, I believe I had used the same on the driver's side although I am not 100% certain.

Does anyone have any insight on what the problem might be, or direct me to another place where I can inquire further?

Thanks!

If you have a code scanner or know someone who has it, have them scan the code for you so you don't get rip off at the shop.

Hm I don't know anyone who has one.  Where can I pick up one of those scanners?

check the wiring to that light, see if it's running along with some other wiring, it could be shorted to something else...

did you have to take off anything to gain access to the light bulb and forgot to put those back?

I have a code scanner. You can swing by my place in Richmond for a quick scan.
