If one truly loves China, one should always share its past experiences with CCP on how to become a democracy; instead of just plain accusations on everything CCP's way is not complying with western standard. I bet CCP leaders know the problems they are facing too well; however, they don't have experience and don't know how to handle them properly. Consequently, they take conservative steps to move ahead.
Lastly, as I always say, as a Chinese living in foreign countries, we should give the underdog (CCP) more encouragements and applause if they do the right things, no matter how tiny those are, while enjoying the so-called freedom we have now in Canada.fy789 發表於 2010-10-26 08:41
Sharing their own experience and telling Grandfather what is right has always been done by Chinese in China and abroad. But does the stupid/stubborn Grandfather listen? For those that are in China, they get jailed or what not (again, Liu Xiaobo is the prime example, and his approach is already extremely mild). For those they are abroad, Grandfather doesn't bother to listen. Or they make up excuses saying how the Mainland is different. How they need a whatever it was with 中國特色. Heck, I don't remember which Great Leader it was, but he literally says that China needs to have its own style of democracy, something to the effects of 中國共產黨領導嘅民主體制. What kind of crap is that? Democracy, by definition, is not led by any any party in particular.
This is no different that the CCP's continual insistence on how they will proceed on their Chinese style socialism agenda. Everybody knows what China is practicing right now is the most extreme form of capitalism. And yet they still have the guts to claim it as a "Chinese style socialism".
If there is no criticism, there is no incentive for change. We are not dealing with little kids here. The leaders in government are all fully functional adults.
