I was in my friend’s car yesterday, dropping off another friend to catch a plane.  When we reached the top of the ramp (upper level, Departure), we were stopped by police officers (together with a few cars, Taxis included).  We were told that we were speeding at 40 km/hr., up the ramp, which had a limit of 20 km/hr.  They said that it should be $350.00 fine, however, base on the driver’s clean record of my friend, he was penalized for $138.00 instead.

I don’t know whether that sign was new or the speed limit was reduced recently.  There were lots of drivers caught by surprise.  Please be careful next time you go to the airport.

You need to slow down just in case there are pedestrians. You can drive over 20 km as you wish, but they will give you tickets or even suspend you for reckless driving.

AA speed of 20 km there makes sense, because many pedestrians are crossing from the parkade to the airport building. All cars there are going to stop for dropping off people or picking up people anyway. So going slow is reasonable.

Do you have any idea of what you're talking about? The parkade crossing to the terminal doesn't come until way later after the ramp. Right after the ramp, it's the airport hotel, a section of the US terminal, and then you start seeing those crosswalks from the parkade.

Slowing down for pedestrians certainly make sense, but reducing speed down to 20kph on the up ramp with no pedestrians around is pretty much as stupid as you are.

I think that airport ramp speed limit of 20km/hr doesn't make sense...
30-50 is better....coz there are quite a lot speed bump, can't drive too fast anyway.

You can be drive at 120km/h there as long as there is no cops around. Like driving on any 50km/h zone. Do you really drive at 50km/h? Not just the airport, drive with your senses. Check way ahead to see if there is a chance that is a hidden cop car
