Many Canadians spent long weekend shopping in U.S.
BELLINGHAM (NEWS1130) - Bellingham stores enjoyed a big influx of Canadian shoppers this long weekend. Ken Oplinger with the Bellingham Chamber of Commerce says big retailers and Bellis Fair Mall have seen big Canadian crowds, and this year appears to be better than last.
"Well certainly from an anecdotal perspective, this year it does look like there are lot more folks crossing. We can see, for instance, that in the month of July, we had significantly more people cross over the line than we did either in June or in July from 2009," he observes.
He believes a strong Canadian loonie is motivating shoppers to head across the border. |
