Forty-two-year-old Dion gave birth to twin boys at a hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida this afternoon.

The babies are both said to be healthy, each weighing more than five pounds. Dion was admitted to hospital last weekend to make sure she was near her doctors leading up to the babies' birth.

The singer said earlier this year that she became pregnant after undergoing in-vitro fertilization for the sixth time. Dion's husband Rene Angelil expressed his joy at a press conference a few hours after the births, saying he cut both umbilical cords.

Dion and her husband also have another son - nine-year-old René Charles.
