VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Sometimes all you can see is the tip of your nose and a puff of icy breath. The recent cold snap sweeping across the province is being considered by many west coasters as 'freeze your bits off' cold.
But the real tough folks are the ones who get outside and work through the night and day. It's all about bundling up and staying mobile.
News1130 hit the streets of Vancouver and found Ken, who was filling newspaper boxes in the wee hours. His sunny attitude alone could keep him warm.
He says he's not out as long as others and doesn't have it as bad some people. "It's six to seven hours. I'm in and out of the truck. When I was going over the bridge, I saw city workers working outside and they were out there for eight hours. If they get a coffee break they should probably go in the car for 15 minutes."
We spoke with others who advise the best way to handle the frigid temperatures is to avoid it altogether and just stay in bed.
