Be the first to Comment 0 Recommendation(s) VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - 'Tis the season to pack on the pounds. But before you start asking for a bigger belt for Christmas we have some tips on how to avoid any Yuletide flab.
The festive folks at Men's Health magazine say you are allowed to pig out at parties, just make sure you have a plan for healthy eating and exercise every other day. It's the only way you don't end up shaking like a bowlful of jelly by New Year's Eve.
Nutritionists in the Vancouver Sun say it's all about the metabolism. Things as simple as drinking a big festive glass of water when you get up in the morning will help cut your food intake up to 13 per cent.
A pre-party protein snack also helps before you hit that buffet table. Look for nuts, deli meats, vegetables and sandwiches served on wraps instead of bread, fruit instead of cakes and if you just have to indulge in the sweets, take a bite and toss the rest.
When it comes to cocktails, avoid the eggnog and other drinks that pack a huge sugar and calorie wallop.
