•Crowd rallies for more "park" at Hastings Park
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The fight over the future of one of Vancouver's most-loved attractions is expected to heat up Tuesday night at city hall. A public hearing that began last week on the Hastings Park Master Plan only heard from three speakers, and there are 60 more to go.

Georgina Nicholson is with Friends of Hastings Park. "We feel the master plan is all about commercialization, with no more than a bit of landscaping for the green space. There's really no additional natural habitat," she insists.

She believes public consultation on this issue has not been adequate. The group wants the plan delayed, so changes can be made.

The master plan calls for an underground exhibition building, traffic-calming for nearby streets, and doubling the amount of habitat in a restored wetland.
