new lens from wife

Just got a 17-40 from wife as a Christmas gift.

I am not particularly like this lens in terms of sharpness and color comparing to my beloved 50mm.  But I will trying to learn how to shoot wide angle stuff.  Here are a fews photos from the first outing with my new lens to share with you.

and not sure what camera you use, but you can also hyper focus to have a shallower background

umm...I don't have a lens that wide so I am not sure.  On my 25mm, focusing at 1 feet at f4 would only give you a focus range between 0.5 to 2 feet.

cowboy,  I was about 1 ft from the senor couple, and shooting full frame.  It is the nature of these ultra wides (all photos were in 17-20mm range)  I guess you will need medium format cameras to get wide/thin dof look.  Maybe that is the reason people are still stooding medium format film.

Put your subject in the middle. The effect is awesome. I used to do this for full length Portraits ...

It's generally unpleasant (e.g. making the nose alot bigger)

I am also a wide angle fan. Much prefer wide look than long look.
