洪患 鯊襲 搶掠 布里斯班變水中鬼城
澳洲第三大城巿布里斯班飽受洪水蹂躪，昨日洪峰過去，這座城巿的劫後一面赤裸的暴露人前。放眼所見滿目瘡痍，十萬民居斷電斷水，污水四處充斥，埋藏疾病危機；盛傳有人「趁水打劫」，爆發搶掠潮；又驚傳洪水中有鯊魚游弋。昆士蘭省省長布萊形容現時的布里斯班有如戰場，猶幸洪峰水位比預期低，她不禁說：「大自然總算手下留情。」
布萊昨指，昆省水災至今已造成全省四分三地方被淹。布里斯班雖是昆省首府，但從高空看來，這座大城巿卻半淹在黃黃的洪水中。當局指多達三萬間民房及五千間商舖在洪水中被水浸或沒頂，市中心恍如「水中鬼城」。

至今15死61失蹤
過去三天洪災已造成十五人死亡、六十一人失蹤。昨日一名二十四歲男子溺斃，更是布里斯班首名洪災罹難者。

在布里斯班巿郊的伊普斯威奇，有居民指昨晨看到疑似鯊魚的物體在商場附近的水裏出現，當局相信可能是公牛鯊。有海洋生物專家指這並非不可能，因雌性的公牛鯊會在夏天時游進布里斯班河產卵。

有消息指布里斯班市郊出現趁水搶掠潮。有居民稱看見搶掠者將船隻縛在房屋旁，從屋頂入內洗劫。有議員指摘搶掠者是「人渣」，應被判監，又指這情況在布巿的一九七四年大洪災時也曾發生。

不少居民更因擔心家園遭洗劫而拒絕疏散。當局昨日則宣布聯同其他省份成立二百人特別小組，在災區巡邏，嚴防盜賊。

We are in Canada, so the reference point is Canada. It was you who imagined about China.
I never said China is perfect. This is another imagination on your part.
China is growing rapidly, and needs to improve in many areas. However, there are so many self-hating people who would bash China indiscriminatedly.

    When you say Australian is backwards what is your reference point? You know what's the biggest problem? You just won't admit anything bad or negative among Chinese. Anyone say something negative about Chinese you say because people are self-hating or bashing? No one is perfect in this world. Only by admitting or recognizing the negative thing would bring improvement. Mainland China does improve a lot in the last 30 years, but so there are problems as well.

I didn't compare Australia with China at all. It was just your imagination. It was you who mentioned China first.

Maybe you are right that racists people like you, look down on fellow Chinese. You are just a self-hating Chinese, who is jealous of China getting stronger.
It is the white people who look down on Chinese, black, Indians, Mexicans etc.

    You are the one to first say Australia is backwards. Who do you compare with? China right? So before you criticize how backwards Australia is, just see how good our motherland does. I'm not too sure if China will do any better.

It just shows how "compassionate" you are, we are talking about 天災人禍 here, not the best moment for saying how racist or backwards others are. Btw, talking about racist, I see Chinese as the most racist if not one of the most racist, not only look down other races (e.g. blacks, Indian etc) but look down on own races as well.

China has way higher population density. Australia has very small population, even after the Europeans imperialists invaded the aboriginals.
Rescue efforts is disorganized, looting is frequent, just like in New Orleans.

In Brazil, the recent mud slide is also very severe.

Again, this thread is about Australia, but the China bashers tried to bash China here.

Before you criticize the Aussies as being backward, look at the death toll numbers. Now compare the death toll numbers against the number in China's mud flood. Look who is really backwards la?

Brisbane is located at a floodplain with the main stream (~100mm wide) meandering throughout the whole city. With last month Dec/10 rainfall at around 500mm (mean annual rainfall 1,200mm), no local system can be prepared and will be designed for this type of national disaster other than early warning.

For post hazard control, I hope that no illnesses will be spreaded after the flooding.

They have a small population in Australia, but still they are so poorly organized in the rescue efforts. Eventhough the area is large but the population to be rescued is small.
If the population is bigger, it would have been even worse due to lack of preparation for flooding, even in the urban areas, the infrastructure is backward.
