ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) - The search has been called off for three Mexican nationals after they illegally crossed the border into Canada last night.

Abbotsford Police received a call from the US border control just after 7:00 pm Saturday about three men who jumped the border at 0 Avenue. The Americans had one man in custody, but were looking for three others.

Acting Sergeant Chris Nightingale says they would appreciate any tips from the public. "We just ask that that people be aware of any suspicious people or any suspicious vehicles."

It's not clear how the men were able to sneak through.

Nightingale says illegal crossings are becoming more common. "It's becoming a daily routine for these people, unfortunately. We don't always get the calls when this happens. We are down there on a regular basis, doing patrols."
