SURREY (NEWS1130) - A Surrey RCMP officer won't face charges stemming from a fatal shooting earlier this year.
An investigation by the [url=http://www.saanichpolice.ca/]Saanich Police Department has found the seven-year veteran had no choice when he opened fire, killing Adam Purdie on March 2nd.
Purdie, 28, was apparently on his way to confront his wife when he caught the eye of police on 152nd Street. After a chase to King George Boulevard near Highway 10, the unidentified Mountie had to use his cruiser to force Purdie's car off the road.
Then, according to the investigation by the Saanich Police Department, Purdie pointed a rifle at the cop. That's when the officer shot back, firing 30 times.
The investigators say the cop's actions were justifiable. An autopsy also showed 28-year-old Purdie had cocaine, codeine, and morphine in his system.
