METRO VANCOUVER - The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has located a second body along Colebrook Road in Surrey this morning, making it the fourth body found on that rural stretch in six weeks.
IHIT spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Pound says around 2 a.m., officers were patrolling the area of Colebrook Road and 125A Street.
The officers noticed an unresponsive man lying on the street. Emergency services were called, as well as a police dog team.
As the members of the dog team searched the area, they found the body of a woman located "a short distance" from the man's body.
Pound said police believe both are victims of foul play, and IHIT will continue to investigate.
"Until the identity has been determined investigators will not know the connection, if any, today's victims have to each other or to the other two victims found recently in this area," said Pound.
She said IHIT will be on scene most of the day with the RCMP and the forensics team.
The body of 29-year-old Delta resident Amritpal (Paul) Saran was found burned and dumped in a remote stretch of Colebrook Road on Feb. 24.
Saran had numerous run-ins with the law, including a charge of assaulting a peace officer. He was known to police, but not thought to have any gang affiliations.
The body of another homicide victim, Jaskaran Singh Sandhu, was also found a on Colebrook Road on Jan. 28. Before he was killed, Sandhu had survived a Coquitlam shooting and had gang links
Surrey has had a violent beginning to 2013.
Earlier in February, the body of Vimal Chand was found in a car across from an elementary school, just days after his family had reported him missing.
On Jan. 15, long-time gangster Manjinder (Manny) Hairan was shot to death near 127 Street and 112B Avenue. Another gangster also linked to the late gangster Sukh Dhak - Jujhar Khun-Khun - was seriously wounded in the shooting.
Just two days earlier, another Dhak associate named Manjot Singh Dhillon was killed in a targeted shooting near 168 Street and 76 Avenue.
The same night two drug dealers John Edward McGiveron and Geordie Wesley Carlow, both 33, were shot to death in a parkade of an apartment complex at 9450 128th Street.
