Refund for Avent/Playtex BPA Bottles BPA, Avent, Bottles, Playtex, Refund

FYI:  In light of the recent confirmation by Health Canada declaring products containing BPA, London Drugs is providing refunds without receipts for products containing BPA for in-store credit (at last sale price, but the Avent products which is the most popular have not, I don't believe, ever been on sale).  This speaks volumes of the repuatation and concerns for customer safety.

Toys R Us, one of the major leaders in baby products and baby registries have decided to do NOTHING because there has not been an official recall on BPA products despite recent press release by Health Canada.  They will only refund products that are unused/sealed in packaging with receipts.  Woopee.  So much for helping moms, especially those on a fixed income.  Jerks.

I got $54 store credit back from babies r us, although I only returned 6 bottles.

I guess I got the most refund out of all LYK moms so far.

And I think I lost about 15 bux so far (compared to the new purchase price for all the units returned). My philosophy is that while the loss is small, it is still to our advantage to be able to return them for a *partial* refund for as this BPA banning subject matter becomes more sensitive over time, the likeliness of being able to get rid of these questionable plastics will become challenging as most recycling facilities cannot handle these plastics, and the maker may not take them back based on "good-will" practice.

Loose a little bit of $$ and be able to pass the ball back to someone else in an environmentally-conscious way, what more can I ask for?

(* of course, now I need to figure out how to spend that refund I got from LD....*)

BTW: call me LYK daddy... *grin*



p.s. still has a handpump (on-loan to my wifey's sister) and a 2ndary steriliser that perhaps I can refund later this week......

I got so much refund, around 200, i got much avent bottles + 1 hand pump.
I saw ppl refund sterilizer @ toysrus, although i only sterilize new bottle now, the size for the Avent Sterilizer is only good for their own bottle, so I will return too.  I bought it around 100 dollars,

Wow, I got close to $100 in total only.  So I guess you got the most so far among our LYK moms?

Not fair.  I got 2 avent 9oz bottles for just $9.99.

I bought the pack of 3 avent bottles for $19.99.  Now I got a refund for a total of $9.99 + $7.99 = $17.98.  Two bucks difference, ok la.

Oh well, after all it is better than not getting any refund at all.

Got the news that LD, Zellers, and certain regional Wallymart are accepting Playtex, Nuby, Avent baby products and it wasn't until just now that after reading Wa-mei-zi's posting RE: #3Rd LD accepting bottles that I just rushed out with all my baby stuff.

Got over 130 bux back with the following:

one Microwave steriliser
2 smaller Avent bottles
6 larger Avent bottles (9 Oz)
1 Playtex sippy cup
1 playtex small sippy cup
1 small Avent sippy cup
1 large Nuby sippy cup
1 small Nuby sippy cup
1 pair (still in original package) of Avent sippy cup nipples

Note: you have to haggle with the supervisor on some of the Avent products in order to get a full priced refund, otherwise, she may ended up pairing them up in packages of 2 (at least so she claimed for you have no more Avent products on LD's shelves to reference to so beware).

hey, someone just told me Zellers gives more store credits for Avent bottles.  You know LD gives $9.99 for two, but Zellers offers $6.99 EACH no matter what size.  Too bad I had mine returned to LD.

The zellers at lansdowne had these prices:

Avent small - $6.99/each
Avent large - $7.99/each
Playtex Advance any size - $5.97/each
