Can I bring cooked seafood from overseas?

I know we cannot bring in meat or fruit(for example from Hong Kong or Taiwan)right? How about cooked meat or seafood? canned?

For what is allowed to be bring in thru airport, you can check this CBSA link :   http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/fpa-apa/law-loi-eng.html

Specifically for fish and seafood:  All species except puffer fish and Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir) are allowed.

The CBSA tell you what's allowed but won't tell you what's not allowed. So they have you to declare what you are bringing in so that they can make the decision.

For meat, it is a NoNo. I think everybody knows about it.  For birds nest case, birds nest is an animal by product and has a very high price tag, CBSA wil not relax about it.  I know if you import birds nest, each shipment you need to provide a pound or so birds nest (non-returnable)  for lab inspection / testing. (wonder those lab techs can 餐餐冰糖燕窩。 )

But birds net is not "meat" too...

Dried birds net student $1,000 fine
By Martin van den Hemel - Richmond Review - June 09, 2008
A woman who failed to declare more than seven kilograms of dried birds and commercially-packaged meat at the Vancouver International Airport was fined $1,000 in Richmond provincial court on Thursday.

Chao Yang, 25, a student from Victoria, pled guilty to failing to declare 7.5 kilograms of packaged beef, pork, chicken and duck products which Canada Border Services inspectors found in her luggage earlier this year.

In January, Yang returned to Vancouver from a trip to China but did not declare any meat.

The meat was found during an examination of her baggage, was seized and will be destroyed.

Canada Border Services' Faith St. John said there is always a risk of the introduction of foreign animal diseases when importing animals, their products and their by-products into Canada. Foreign animal diseases could have a devastating effect on Canada's agricultural industry.

I think it's quite interesting ar See? So many replies~~~~

Yes I am looking information whether a Canadian can bring cooked seafood, for example a cooked lobster, well packed in a foam box from ...

Let me get this straight, a lobster from Eastern Canada cooked in HK and carry back to Canada. Several questions come to mind, like who's the famous chef? you must be a gourmand? too rich to do care for the airfare? too much time on your hands...

Yes, free bump for you
