I'm sure what you saying was true.
May be it is true in the past in Canada?
Or true in small town?
I'm aware the older generation of what you called "white people" are like what you said.
But younger generation, they are educated enough to understand we are just all human. They do not see me differently, just because I am a Chinese. I randomly talk to different race, they are aware of the strenght of China.
Some white guys/girls, unlike their last generation, they are working their axx up and try to get as much education as they can. They are not "dumb" as how Chinese think they are.
I seriously don't feel the pressure of racism or discrimination among my co-workers. Ha, the only time I felt offended or "discriminated" was from my CHINESE co-worker. I had to file a discrimination complaint to my HR manager in Canada regional office. He said "How long have you been here?"
"xxxx, You need to improve your English." Keep in mind that, this Chinese dude is WELL KNOWN for his bad English in the North America offices.......
And I worked in mid size company, international company. Or even now, I see different races everyday in different building, yet I just feel like working in a multi-culture environment. We have black, white, French, European,Indian, Chinese etc etc. I don't see how they discriminated me wor.
We speak our own language on the phone publicly, nobody will say anything at all.
In fact, the hallway of Finance department (I call it the manager hallway) are all Chinese or has a Chinese last name.
The only time I might felt offended came from my Philippine co-worker that she laughed at my CBC co-worker that he has Chinese accent and he dress like Chinese... |
