Complaints about bad cycling manners
Some say police are too lenient with bad cyclists

0 VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A pedestrian left with serious injuries after being hit by a cyclist in Toronto has many in Vancouver questioning whether something similar could happen here.
Even with those new bike lanes, drivers often complain cyclists don't follow the rules of the road.
This woman tells News1130 she's seen close calls due to bad manners. "About a month ago at 16th and Cambie, a cyclist went through red light, it was really dark out and raining. Car didn't see him, the cyclist almost got hit. The cyclist got pissed off at the motorist."
Gary says for the most part cyclists obey the rules. "I've seen a couple guys riding on sidewalks and being a bit reckless. I dunno, 90 per cent of them follow the rules of the road very well, and what's happening is drivers are way too panicked."
Others say police in Vancouver are reluctant to fine cyclists who break the law because of our bicycle loving mayor and city council. |
