Too much patriotism will fall prey to propaganda machines, Chinese and American are the good examples. Both countries' citizens are very misinformed about their state affairs.
People immigrate to a foreign country for many reasons. Should they be called a “traitor” for moving to another country? I don’t think so. Should people be judged whether they are a patriot based on whether they reside within the boundary of the land of their own country? If that is the standard, how are we going to call the overseas Chinese who contributed to 辛亥革命和抗日戰爭 but never set their feet on the land of mainland China?
Whether a person is a true patriot should be measured by their hearts and souls but not be judged on where they reside.
