Android App: LiveTranslink Vancouver - GPS location of buses!

View the real-time GPS location of any Translink bus, or look up the scheduled arrival times at any stop in the lower mainland. Now supports OFFLINE arrival times!

Select your preferred routes from a filterable list, and LIVE Translink bus locations will be overlaid on a map. Tap the bus to see when its location was last updated, or press the refresh button to get the latest locations.
Zoom in to see Translink bus stops overlaid on the map, and tap a stop icon to view the arrival times for all bus routes that stop there. The settings screen allows you to toggle between live arrival time predictions from Translink (i.e. 10 min) and the static schedule (i.e. 3:22 PM).

I think there are a few of these on both iOS and Android? No official app from Translink for either.

Being in tech myself. I definately apprecaite a model where developers can have incentives to create great products. What makes it even greater is that the pricing model is reasonable. For a good app, I have no problem paying $0.99, or even higher for that matter. Pricing is already much much better than when SW was priced $19+ a piece, even if it's just some shareware online.

The problem with Android is that the app ecosystem does not enforce that the developers can be fairly compensated. Too many ways to work around getting things from the Android Marketplace. If it isn't for the Apple App Store, Apps in general could never have taken off from say the Android Marketpalce from scratch. Big players wouldn't even have bothered in the first place. Free stuff can only go so far.

Android phones can be great. Albeit years of catch-up, the app store is still definately not one of it's strongest point.

OT, but Android has 3 big app stores now. They offer more free apps where you have to pay in the Play Store. Amazon and GetJar are as good as the Play Store.

Using i pads, touch and phone myself as well, I did not like so much of the app store where there are too many of the similar apps and they do not show the dev name until you click on it. just type in Facebook and so many results.

Keep in mind that Apple is all about control, and it is something that some dev do not like as well.
