I usually read the label before I buy my grocery. I will try to avoid canned meat (may be except canned tuna). And similar to Big C Jar's list, I try not to eat the following too often:
Ham, Bacon, sausages, fish balls, instant noodles...etc. I also try to cook my meals using as little pre-prepared sauces as possible. (e.g. pasta sauce, curry paste, pre-mixed seasonings...etc)
They are high in preservative and sodium. I tried to get a package of ham from costco once, and all of them have CRAZY among of sodium in them. (like 3 slices > 30% daily intake of salt!!!!) So I didn't end up buying any.
So my cooking is relatively simple now. |
