回禮利是? 的, 都, invitation, wedding, include

剛取了已印好的結婚請柬, 放入餅咕準備寄給親友. 但有長輩話他近年所收的請柬都會放埋回禮利是在請柬內, 省卻日後續一回禮給客人. 佢話就算個wedding reception有wedding favour主家都include回禮利是with invitation, in case some guests only attend ceremony but not reception dinner. 我近年較少收到wedding invitation, 但前幾年我去weddings都只是婚禮後收到主家寄來我地當天有份影的相和thank you card. 我諗住同樣做法. 但係佢地都係我同輩和朋友,唔知係米甘做法之所以唔同?

唔係甘清楚依家嘅做法, 我地邀請的多係長輩,得失佢地就唔好啦.
唔知各位剛新婚或將派帖的lyk是點做呢?

I haven't heard of 回禮利是 here.
But in HK, I think we did give out 回禮利是 at the banquet when we got jewelry ...etc. gifts from the elder relatives.

Never heard of 回禮利是 to be given at time of sending invitation cards. Reasons are, how do you know if the guests would attend only the ceremony or reception or both yes or both not? How do you know how much money or gift they would give you, so by what percentage of the 回禮利是 should be calculated? If you just want to save some work and give a random figure to all guests, it won't be appropriate anyways and someone might get upset at the end.
That's why there are always "receptionists" act as gift record registers at guest sign in table, in order to mark down each gift by which guest, so you can have a better idea how to do the 回禮利是 afterwards if you want to.

I think it's a HK thing. I did get one from the HK invitation. But I never received one from my friends here.

It is not a HK thing.  起碼千年中國傳統習俗 :
《水滸傳》第三七回：眾囚徒見宋江有面目，都買酒來與他慶賀。次日，宋江置酒食與眾人回禮。
印像中，《紅樓夢》裡面都有提過回禮，費事搵....

As the name suggested, it is a token (利是) for thanking people's gift.

It is not logical to send 回禮利是 with invitation.  As people may not accept your invitation or send any gift.

i think it's the same thing as wedding favor in western culture

I got $10HK 回禮利是 w/ the invitation. I *think* it goes to the guest who are not given the cake card.

But Cdn...if put $2 coin in 回禮利是....looks bad wor...but if give paper bill..$5 each? OMG
