is there any tax charge when purchase through US (e.g. ebay)?

beside paying the shipping cost, will there be any import tax?  if there is tax, is it related to the price of the product (e.g. over CAD 100)?  Sorry I'm new in Canada, just need to be careful.

Thanks for the help

Yes, import duty according to traiff schedule.

If it is shipped by courier such as UPS, Fedex, you also need to pay brokerage fee. If it is shipped by postage, you need to pay duty at your door or in a postal outlet.   Somtimes if it is a small amount, you can get away from paying duty.  But don't count on it.

You can try ups the item to hagen's of blaine in WA or TSB in Point Roberts, they charge US$3 for receiving. Then you dont pay brokerage, only PST & GST, or duties when you bring the item back.

Very rarely you will get dinged for duty because they need to find out where the items are made. Like last time when I brought my rims back to Canada, they were made in China so I paid 6% on top of GST/PST.

The responsibility is yours to report where it was made. If unknown, they can actually charge the duty according to their judgement where it was made. And then they will estimate a maket value to it also according to their judgement.
