I think this depends on what is the driving force behind playing MJ or poker, etc...
For non-believer's sake it better not to play these kind of games in the public so that they don't get confused, but really MJ or poker is just a game like monopoly if you don't bet money on it.
The driving force for gambling is greed for most of the people. There will be no casinos if you can't play real money. If you say gambling gives you excitement that others can't, then you should donate the money you won to charity.

Why playing MJ in church is a problem while money is not involved? I've mentioned that already. Which I think church people/Christians should explain to others but not just avoid doing it.
Another real case, a Christian friend of mine won some money from lottery and wanted to donate it to his church, yet got refused to accept his "dirty money" (money from sort of gambling, not from a "right source"). |
