if i buy a panasonic lumix dmc-fz28, i would be taking the same photos i have been taking as featured in my long running thread, "photo droppings"
a new camera would improve the technical quality of may be 5 photos in all the photos i will be taking in one years.
if the fz28 costs $400,. that s $80 per photo.
the objective of my photo taking is not technical quality, but emotional impact
there is very little need for new cameras
I think there are several issues involved here.
1) A better camera offers not just better quality, but also greater convenience and flexibility. There may be instances in which I want to or have to shoot at F2.0 but not that many compact cameras would allow me to do so. This has nothing to do with technicality. A lot of great photos that you have shown in this thread would have been physically impossible to make without those particular camera models.
2) Of course there's always the trade-off between budget and quality. If you think that a new camera's utilization is low for you personally, then you have every reason to stay with your old camera. However, it certainly does not apply to everyone else, especially those that have bigger budgets or higher demand for certain situations.
3) I believe the bottom line is to have a camera that allows full manual control. To me, anything less would not count as creative output. |
