It is easy to make friend in Canada, do some volunteer works if you are in between
jobs,  take a recreational course, it only costs minimals. Or try some religious groups,
you do not necessary to get converted , just join the activities. Help out at soup kitchens
or community free lunch services...etc.   You guys sound very smart and well educated, why
waste  your time?
