Obviously, I shouldn't have involved in you and Hyde's previous conversation. But if you want to discuss with me more, why I said your argue of "去" 同 "返" 有乜野咁 offending... since someone didn't mention he/she treat Vancouver as "home", so I don't see any reason to say "返" HK is a problem lor. But maybe only it's you treat Vancouver is your only home, so you think other people say "返" HK is a problem. Then, is it offending to others?

Lik, I'm not intend to argue with you, but just found this issue interesting to have further discussion, OK?! Hehe...

First of all, some rich people can have more than 1 "home", agree?
Second, some people need to work and live in one place, while their family (such as wife and children) live in another place. In that case, which place is their "home", or can we say they have 2 "homes"?
Then, how if people live in one place, but their parents live in another place. Which place is their "home"?
And, people always say: "返大陸", but their homes are not really in 大陸, why do people say that?
My another concept, since I born in HK, if I'm going to "travel" or "go back" or "visit" my "home country/born country", I would simply say "返 HK" instead of "去 HK", even I acknowledge my "home" is only in Vancouver.

I'm not intending to start more fire, but just want to share my thoughts, OK?! And actually different people can have different expressions, not a big deal to argue with and we should respect each others, right? Hehe.......

its just Lik's vision is too shallow. (just like in everything else) it was more like he was offended by the OP about "Going Back" to hk instead of going.

just because Mr.Lik treat vancouver as the only home, doesnt mean EVERYONE  has to follow him and call vancouver their only home.   

maybe you should move out of ur little well and look more into the world.

Then, what do you think about "返鄉下"? Obviously, people saying this have home not in 鄉下. So what made them keep saying "返鄉下"?? Well my guess, if people think their "root" is their 鄉下, and 鄉下 means their home country/born country/country of origin, so that really makes sense for them to say "返鄉下" ga wor. For the same thinking, that's why people say "返大陸" lor. And as time goes by, even people born in HK or non-大陸, but since that's like a 口頭嬋, so they still say "返大陸"... "返大陸"... lor. And I don't think that should be something we need to pick on geh. Right?
