U know what, it sounds dumb, but I don't see such a big deal ..  you will see same or even worse stupid thing in Post office here .. or in Macdonald, mall etc ...

The different is, you will get HELP from HK post office ... not here ...

I am always happy with post office in HK.... ->

A. no waiting time, compare to here .. no matter you want to mail something of pick up something, average 10-15 min wait time .. (but not because they are busy, just because they are SLOW)

B. Helpful, everytime I need to mail a parcel to myself, I got help, and assist. Canadian style? will send you away, and ask you to check on their website.

C. Price ..  well, of course, no matter from the shipping cost, (cost less to ship something from HK, then ship something from here to US!) and the cost for packaging material. (box, etc, )

no kidding shipping things out from HK is dirt cheap..!  When I was there last year.. I was in Japan with my family before our trip to HK.  I bought one of their largest box, and ship close to 30kg for approx $500/HK

Canada Post is $216.44Can.

Not only HK...shipping from US is also much cheaper...especially package..
One time I wanna ship a package to HK about 1.5 or 2kg.
From here $7x
From US (say if I go to Point Roberts), $5x...

    From say Yaohan Center Richmond, going to Point Roberts via Hwy 99...takes 30 mins.
If you go there with almost empty tank and fill up there, sure u save $ on gas...
The only thing is time.

may i ask where is the post office?  in hk, not many people will send pascal locally by hk post. since the bus fare will be more cheaper and the local carrier will be much faster.

shipping from canada is expensive, because we have so many remote areas.  but i don't understand why shipping in japan is even more expensive

We are taking about sending from Hong Kong and Canada to overseas, not locally. One of the reasons here is expensive is that the postal workers extort money from the public by threatening to go on strike, therefore their salary are inflated. So that is the reason why the cost of mailing is so high here.

Say, send something from HK to Canada, so, pay LOW COST to HK Post, but Canada Post will do MOST the job, (receive, sort, delivery) and also, CANADIAN POSTMAN will do the work ..  I know the salary for the Canadian postman is high, but then, the sender only pay a SMALL AMOUNT in HK...

On the other hand, when I send something from Canada to HK, I pay HIGH PRICE, but Canada post doesn't do much, but HK Post will do most the work..  but their labour cost is low ...  then why pay HIGH PRICE?

To me, it makes sense, if someone is sending something to CANADA, then need to pay high price for postal, since labour cost in Canada is high ... and for sending something to HK, or China or Taiwan etc ..  the postal cost should be low, as the labour cost is low over there ....

Just doesn't make sense to me, when Canada post, and Postman here, make the bigger money, and then HK postman, China Postman, whatever asian postman do the major work ...
