BTW, back to the Mongolian Protest...

Most people wearing yellow clothings, are these school uniforms?

I see hope in them. They do have real hearts and guts though...

yeah, the arrogant British and French imperialists did nothing to modernize Africa.

China is on the right track to set up mutually beneficial projects.
These Chinese projects in Africa are based on mutual agreement.

If there're enough local workers that are as skillful, cheap and obedient, I don't think they need to export workers from China... What they do will be exporting management staffs to those countries instead...

That's what normal people would expect, but unfortunately, I can't see how that is the case.

Going back to China, do you know how they discriminate against the ethnic minorities? The Hans are moving en masse into the ethnic minorities' regions, and the investment are coming from the Hans. But in order for the local ethnic groups to find work, they need to speak Mandarin instead of their native language to find work. This happens in Mongolia, in Xinjiang, in Tibet, etc.

Do you not see something wrong with that approach? Effectively, the Hans are using their population size as the overwhelming force to invade into a "foreign" region, displace the original ethnic groups there, and then force them to adopt the Hans language and culture in order to survive. This is why there is so much ethnic tension in Xinjiang for the longest time. This is why ethnic Tibetans feel their culture and religion are being invaded. In ecological terms, this would be known as an invasive behaviour, and the species would be labeled as an invasive species.

Distinct cultures need to be respected and protected to live on. Canada is one of the few countries that does this very well, and I would say that respect for ethnic diversity is one of the core modern Canadian values. Mainland China, on the other hand, has absolutely no respect in this area.

Another crap logic from Mr Lik.

You have to learn the language of commerce. In China, it is Mandarin.
Just like in Canada, the native Indians need to learn English/French.

If the native Indians want to study in a Canadian university or work in the government, they need to learn English/French.

If they don't know English/French, they can't even receive higher education at the university.

According to Mr Lik's logic, Canada also disrespects the native Indians, since the natives have to learn English/French, otherwise they will be shutout of university and a lot of high paying jobs.

The arrogant British and French imperialists did nothing to modernize Africa.

China is on the right track to set up mutually beneficial projects.

I agree, individual culture has to be respect. But, at the same time, the premise has to be based on an unified country. Today, when you look back to Canada history, it takes days for this harmony to settle. I'm not saying the Chinese government is doing thing properly, but it's a required step that they should take.

According to the history I've learnt, there's no purified Hans tribe nowadays. The Hans tribe is actually a big hybrid which is unified under the Hans culture.

I am not saying our Canadian forefathers did it right. In fact, even when I was in grade 9 studying Canadian history, I already knew the British colonists were fxxking bastards. The French colonists, were far more Native-friendly and respectful.

And yet the Chinese (Hans) today are doing exactly what the British Imperialists did back in the 1800's, and that makes them fxxking bastards too. In this day and age, it doesn't have to be that way.

Looking closer to HK, the amount of 推普殺粵 effort you see in Guangzhou is phenomenal, and this is something we have already discussed before on the forum in other threads.

Wrong. If I were the top Chinese leader, I would definitely let them leave if that is what the people's wishes are. I hold exactly the same opinion towards Quebec as well -- if the Quebecois think they'd be better off leaving confederation, and more importantly, can stand on their own two feet as a separate country without relying on Ottawa for all that federal assistance, so be it. Let them leave. It might be sad, but is it the end of the world? A government's no. 1 priority is to make sure its citizen's wishes and desires are met. Why do you (and the Chinese leaders) insist that a single biga$$ China is superior if that isn't what the people want?

If language and cultural difference were the sole factors that could cause countries to separate, then both Canada and the US would have broken into tens and hundreds of little countries already. Closer to China, if what you are saying is true, then Guangzhou and the Shanghai region would have broken off into their own little countries a long time ago as well.

Through the intentional slow death of the Shanghaiese and Cantonese language, you can see how little respect the central government has towards language and cultural preservation.
