As I said, #1 is fine as is. If you find it not good enough, then you need to take another shot somewhere else. I don't believe that there's any shot that you would hate before it's processed and love after it's being processed, unless it's extensive dodging/burning and cropping. A crap shot would still be a crap shot and a good shot would be a good shot regardless. No one would look at a Walken Evans shot and discuss its contrast or sharpness. Things like contrast, color balance, sharpness and saturation do almost nothing to the essence of a photo. It's just waste of time.

Good to know that you like #1.  I have to say it's more original.
I just want to hear from imvitasoy, something he can share with me, so that I can improve.  (I hope he is not just a troll)

With all 3 of my big hobbies, driving, photography and computers.  There are just so much more to learn with no ends.  Yet, I can truely enjoy the learning process, and I have always enjoy sharing what I know with others who share the passion.

Shooting is the best learning. If I improve 10 times faster than an average photographer, it's only because I shoot 10 times more than average. And by shooting, I don't mean shutter count. You can shoot 100 times more frames than I do in a year, but I surely spend more time in total than you do. I would say on average, 6 frames per hour of continuous shooting is very productive for me.

Nicely said.  I do have more time this year (If wife doesn't otherwise object to this idea), I should have more time to take pictures of diff. things this year.

I guess that's why I setup a couple of new thread this April.  I truely hope this can encourage more of us here at LYK to share no matter what level your photography you think you are at.

在下影相好水皮,無資格教人。在下對攝影的興趣只在玩樂,無意鑽研。況且這個話題,涉及好多不同觀點與角度, 要講就要講三日.....

I work a bit differently. I like to focus on one area at a time and won't distract myself with other things until I get to a point where I am pretty satisfied with. I had been doing street for a year or so and right now I am at a good stopping point, so I am concentrating on portraits until I get to a level I am happy at.

I always say that photography is not a standalone subject or practice. It's a subgenre of art in general and you need to have a broad understanding and appreciation of art in all forms in order to excel in photography.

The reason that most people in HK or China have no chance of making good photos is because they have never had any chance of getting the necessary education in arts. Their music industry sucks, their movie industry sucks and there is no public appreciation towards art in general. Beijing is much better compared to the rest of the country though. A lot of modern artists have surfaced and grown.

I don't quite agree with you, as I believe like all art, photography is also culturally influenced.  In a way, it's almost like color.  That's why we have people who would pick the same car with red over white, or black, etc.
In some way, you can say there is no black and white in art.  Yet, there is also some level of general acceptance to what most general public likes.  It's not like everyday you see a pink car on the road, yet pictures that look far outside of the nom. don't necessary make them creative or artistic.
With photography, the reason we learn about exposure, composition is not follow a set of rule, but those are important skill sets that allow us to capture photos of what  we visually see with our eyes, or off our heads/minds more easily.

PS: I personally enjoy HKPop, and often enough, I found some english music a mix in with too much violence, sexual contents.  And I enjoy soft music more than heavy metal/rock and roll.  But then again, this is a preference, and it's has nothing to do with rather the music is good or bad, it's what you enjoy.
