No need to pay extra tips in HK ...
Their prices already included with tips in HK..
Vancouver is ______ !

If the haircut price is $18 I pay $20...
Usually I pay some "even" number lor...like if the price is $33 then I pay $35...but in general around 10%.

My mom in HK used to tip as well, some $ to the hair stylist and less to the person who wash her hair.

I think 10% tip is ok...but western salon kinda "force" (ok they "reccommand")  you to pay at least 15%...so I rarely go...
Yeah..I'm cheap too..

I usually pay $5 tip if the stylist isn't the owner. If he/she is the owner, I don't pay tip.

20% unless they have bad service then it will be like 5% for them

o yah, same here, my haircut was 18 den pay 20.. but if they raise to 20, den i dun pay~ it's like 30 mins service, i didn't use any of the facility (maybe just the hairdryer for 2 mins?)

as for the fu lay ji i got yesterday, he charged me 150, i just gave him 150... not much service anywayz, he kept busy w/ other customers & fone call. & my hair is just a bit below shoulder

Why pay tips?  Never pay tips and I don't think it's cheap; otherwise, people have to pay tips everywhere.

Honestly, we already pay for the service regardless if it's a haircut or a restaurant. The server or whoever does get their cut of pay already, it's called their wages...... If you don't think you already get paid enough, talk to you boss. If your boss think he didn't receive enough to pay you more, tell your boss to revise the menu/hair cut charge.....

I tip 10% when I think service is average for the establishment. If service is below the level of the establishment, be prepared that I'll ceiling the total to the nearest dollar. 15% is the max I'll pay for high end restaurants. 20% if it's a lower level place and the service is exceptional.

Normally I would pay 10%.  If I'm satisfied with the quality of food/service, sometimes I would pay 20%.
