I wonder is CBC will be live broadcast Opening Ceremony on 8/8?  I just checked on their website.

In Canada only CBC has the rights to broadcast. Probably they will use the feed from CBC.

Your air CBC stuff in the public.
If it is TVB, there is still a chance to air it for free.

When did someone say they didn't have to pay for it? The Richmond city hall is part of this event.

Richmond City Hall is only promoting Winter Olympics in 2010, not Beijing Olynpics.
I think it will be TVB feed instead of CBC feed.
They should pay to air, but lot less to TVB than CBC

At a press conference, Richmond mayor and the boss of Fairchild appeared together to promote the Olympics. They already said the feed will be from CBC as they have exclusive rights. Whether they need to pay, or how much they pay does not really affect you.
