I guess my fault was to trust the poice....

I would've driven away from him.  There was no point circling around the blocks just to avoid him isnt it?

But then to your point about the safety in Vancouver, I do agree with you to some extent.   There are just too many crazy a-holes out there in town...Perhaps more rounded law enforcement system in Vancouver may improve the situation?

Not sure if this is correct but a rough check shows me there are about 1000 police officers for the Greater Vancouver Area where the total population is about 2.3 millions.  So that translate to 0.05 police per 100 people.  Compare to what I know about HK(I know it's a bad comparison), there are 0.35 police per 100 people...

side question. Did the guy look normal? Did he wear a helmet? Wear biking outfit?
Well, just don't want ppl to think that all bike riders are crazy. But there are some crazy ppl riding out that without their helmet.... which is VERY dangerous.

I still do trust police but this is not a case that they can really work on. Unless the guy beat you up (then they can charge him assault)... and as b06 said... sadly our police to people ratio is really low...

Protect yourself, drive far away. Unless he is an Olympic racer, he can't catch up with you at 50+km/h.

I don't understand why your husband slowed down the car and let him passed by? you must be one of through slow slow driver, stop with nonsense, some ppl don't like you to yeild them.

i feel for you guys, you cant run from these psycho's...thanks to the lovely city traffic we have where you must stop at every god damn intersection...he's bound to catch you SOMEtime...UNLESS you guys hit a highway/freeway.

and Vancouver police are not very reliable. they know how to catch speeders, people who violate parking rules, and...you guessed it, eat LOTS of donuts

不過俾人搞左都好既, 起碼身上可以留低佢o的毛髮或者白色痴立立既野( if he has dom dom then too bad! ha! )~ 希望驗 DNA 可以搵到證據~ 你而家得個指紋? 哈, 落完雨冇左~

住加拿大信自己好過.....即係, 你踩行油走啦!!

The cop defended "if you believe you are in a dangerous situation, you don't have to listen to the dispatcher."  我好同意個差佬既說法~ 係喇~ 呢 $300 deductible當自己上左一課啦

Really?!  Cambie wor!  around 10th to King Edward.  It wasn't in my impression, but it is.

side question. Did the guy look normal? Did he wear a helmet? Wear biking outfit?

He totally normal.  Wearing a helmet, wearing "oakley-like" sunglasses with backpack on.  AE style outfit. Absolutely not a bum.

I don't understand why your husband slowed down the car and let him passed by? you must be one of through slow slow driver, stop with nonsense, some ppl don't like you to yeild them.

I don't understand why we should not slow down with cars parked on both side driving down an alley.  He claimed that we did not completely stop for him.

Well, yeah, me 又天真又傻 law!  We're obviously not the 受害者 law.  Since I didn't learn from the Canadian education system that everyone should be self-centred and don't trust anyone other than myself.

it's a typical roadrage.  It has nothing to do with the area.

I have a question. If that bike is a car, would you have stopped and let the car throught?
The "incident" happened on West 21st is not a main road and some of those streets are narrow. If there are cars parked on both sides of the street, I would have stopped and let the car/bike through. (you know that stop at the gap between parked cars until the road is clear rule of thumb)

btw. I got a bit confused when you said you were heading East on W21st and then after you turned right you were heading north on cambie???
