好難姐﹐好多餐廳都係十幾廾蚊﹐廾鬆D蚊一個entre﹐廾蚊點食三個course呀?

I don't know for sure. What I had in mind was places like Gothams, which was once on the DOV list... and maybe for this year, Divas at the Mets... maybe West also? I usually don't get out of those places under $200 for 2 people, yet I can get out of places like Brix, Saltlik, Zin for almost under $100 for 2 people... yet all of them are in the $38 category for DOV.... Let's put some examples...

for Diva at the Mets: Diva's regular menu gives Smoked Parsnip Agnolotti at $28 and Butter Poached Half Atlantic Lobster at $48.

for Zin: you can get out of there with an entree for $19 Foraged Mushroom Risotto, and at the expensive end Organic Spring Creek Ranch Tenderloin at $36.

Yet both are a $38 value on DOV. So if you don't think you'll ever want to pay those kinda prices for an entree at a place like Diva's, but you still wanna try it out, DOV is your chance. I'm not saying that the same food is being compared, as we know Mushroom Risotto is cheaper than the Agnolotti, and Beef Tenderloin is cheaper than Lobster regardless of the restaurant, (even tho Divas simply won't push out something as simple as Mushroom Risotto on the menu). Also I'm not saying DOV at Divas will be just like Divas on regular days. But you definately get a taste of it at a much more affordable price point. And even disregarding these number crunching, IMO for the same price Divas/West, etc totally out class Zin and Brix and such in terms of general food preprationg, dish decorations, atmosphere, furnishing, services, etc. If I remember correctly, Zin and Brix in previous years were in the $25 category....

I personally however, won't go to places like West/Divas etc on DOV tho. I rather pay $200 to get the full service than to pay $38 x 2 + Wine (still like $120 after tax and tips) and get only part of the experience. But there are people that want to try but don't want to pay the premium, and I think DOV can be a great deal for them. This is only true however, provided that care is taken to not get ripped off by lesser restaurants who want to use DOV as a cash gouging opportunity.

gone through most menu, most uninspiring, beef short ribs, salmon, green salad, don't  want to go looking at them.
except WEST, who seems to have put some efforts in thinking of what dishes to put out,  may be that's why they're the first sold out.

not such a deal

seriously....great concept, poor execution. Its the same yearly: Same disappointment, same line-up, same participants...same ****, different pile, really.

As some'd said above there, I prefer to go else time when things aren't at a deal rate. After all, it is dining out for enjoyment, unlike just a pho for fill up....

I tried the 3 course combo at boathouse last night..

it's such a good deal.. from not much lobster with the steak.. our steak are too chewy..

my bf had:

glass of red wine... it's little bit too dry for me.. but it's ok for him..

Caesar Salad
same as usual..

Fire-Grilled 7oz. Sirloin Topped with Lobster Thermidor
--- he asked for blue rare.. it's what he asked for.. didn't over cooked.. but it's too crewy.. hard to eat.. mashed potatos are too dry.. need to put butter in it..

I had

a glass of white wine.. .. before it's taste soso.. after few mins.. feel like my throat is burning.. feel like burning from my throat to my stomach..

Lobster Bisque
--- I like it so much.. so creamy and rich.. I love this one .. especially I dipped my sour bread in it.. so good.. half full after eating few pieces of bread with my soup

Fire-Grilled 7oz. Sirloin Topped with Lobster Thermidor
--- I asked for medium rare.. it's ok for me.. but they just put chopped mushrooms, shrimps and 2 pieces of lobster meat on top of sirloin..

we also ordered oyster shooter.. which's special order.. downtown boathouse used to have it .. but not anymore.. so.. we asked them to make us 2 glasses of it.. but they charged double price as before.. used to been $3.50 each.. but they charged us $6 each now..

anyway.. for that price..it's good deal.. I saw the table right beside us.. ordered mud pie... they are huge.. same size as milestone's one..

so far so good.. will post some pictures later on..

it's come to $52 + taxes = $56 + tips..

the price on the menu  is $34.99 per combo.... after coupon should been $24.99.. our  bill suppose to been $62 + taxes + tips..

we found out after we got home.. they gave us extra discount.. .. extra $10 off..
