but once you withdraw, you will have to pay tax on the earnings from the amount. and according to my account manager, you cannot do multiple withdraw and deposit within a year (can some1 confirm on this).

I would prefer to put in RRSP first, because of the tax return. Then use the tax return to put in the tax saving account.
RRSP is not as flexible (not supposed to withdraw until retire) but at the same time, it "controls" that you don't spend your $ before you retire... which is the purpose of the RRSP.

RRSP VS TFSA

RRSP- : save on income tax if you are working.
tax shelter for investment in rrsp
mostly use for retirement planning, first time home buyers plan (hbp) and lifetime learning (LLP)

When you withdraw money for any other purpose, you pay tax penalty.

TFSA: interest or earning in the account is tax free, but doesn't help you to reduce income tax.
no service charge.... you can withdraw it anytime without tax penalty.
MORE for regular savings....
max 5000.00 contribution limit for per year.
any unused contribution can be carried forward to next year.
withdrawal amount can be also carried forward to next year.

i recommend both.

i agree... but i would say it is better to open both rrsp and tfsa...

a lot of people don't want to buy rrsp because they don't want to come up with a large lumpsum during the tax period to purchase rrsp. i always recommend people to put away 100.00 for a monthly contribution in rrsp and tfsa or split 50 and 50... and use the tax refund to put it in tfsa.

tfsa is similar to regular savings account. the only difference is you can only contribute 5000 per year. no service charges for withdrawal. withdrawal amount can only re-contribute in the account until next year once you reach 5000 contribution limit.

點解要買? 買左會好D? 如果每年要俾大約2600蚊既稅﹐要買幾多RRSP先唔晒俾稅?

APPOX. I am saying appox. For every dollar you invest into rrsp, you will have to pay less/ get back 25%~30% from the government. So, for $2600, then you will have to buy appox $10000 rrsp. consider there is nothing else for you to claim.

try this simple web site, http://www.morningstar.ca/globalhome/Tools/RRSPCalculator.aspx
or if you really weant to spend some time, you can go to this web site http://www.taxtips.ca/calculators/taxcalculator.htm

but like littleprince said, if your income tax is more then a T-4, then i will pay someone to get it done.

If you don't buy RRSP, what would you do with those $? Spend it? Or save it some where?
If spend it, it is NOT GOOD because you have less saving when you retire.
If you decide to save it, unless you want to withdraw it at some time, then why don't you save it in RRSP where you get "some $" back (from government as a form of tax return), and also the earning inside RRSP is tax free?
Of course, if your $ needs to be used at a later time, then you will consider other investment strategy lor...
But I would say at a young age, good to start RRSP, doens't matter how much you buy, the $ you buy is still your saving.

If your income tax is only 2600, i don't think you need to purchase 10000.00 in rrsp. If you have T4 now, you can use quicktax or ufile to calculate how much you rrsp you need to purchase in order to save on taxes..
With quicktax or ufile, it will tell you how much you need to purchase in order to get a tax refund. BOth software don't charge a penalty until you actually e-file your tax return
