The same thing happened to me at Aberdeen Mall. I went there for lunch and parked less than two hours at a regular parking stall, but got a ticket. I ran down to the mall cop central and started yelling and made a scene. They initial gave me the BS about contacting the parking company blah blah blah. I got louder and louder and asked for their manager. They finally backed off and took care of the ticket for me.
When dealing with parking ticket, you have to be tough and difficult to deal with. They are always 欺善怕惡
well, it also happened to my colleague that she has a collection status on credit bureau because of the unpaid parking tickets from collection agency
I would agree not to pay if you are 100%+ sure that it will not affect your credit rating at all. Every collection status stays on your credit bureau for 7 yrs.. It affects you for applying credit card, loan, line of credit, overdraft protection and mortgage.
My colleague didn't pay for his hundred dollars ticket a few yrs ago.. she is still regretting. Because of that small amount, she wouldn't qualify for visa and other loans.
If she would have known it, she would pay that amount...
it might or might not affect you, but if it affects your credit rating in the future because of small amount then it is not worth of saving that small amount of money...
also it didn't happen to you once... it does not mean it might not happen...
why spend so much time BS with those parking company??? just don't pay the ticket and change you liscens plate
don't believe that parking ticket collection will hurt you credit. if you are stupid enough to believe that is true, you deserve to be ticketed
remember the rule of thumb unless credit advance to you and you don't paid on time, nothing can hurt or damage your credit. even you have a mortgage, you dont meet you obligation, that wont damage your credit.
Thing is, a lot of us got tickets for things we didn't do.
Changing license plate will prevent towing.
But I'm getting letters and calls every few days.
It's very annoying.
well if you are talking mortgage late payment, it does affect your credit rating...
i do work in financial industry. we do report late pymts on credit bureau. any late payment over 30 days is reported to credit bureau.. over two missed mortgage payment can sent you to collection and also late pymt would show on your credit bureau. if you still don't pay it til then, bank can put you to court, put your home for sell and still ask you to be responsible for any loss.
There are so many factors that would affect credit score.
If a person who has a credit score of < 630.. it really doesn't matter if you miss payment again or not because your credit history is already bad.
but for someone whose credit score is at 700+, it can dramatically hurt your score..
Again, i don't know for sure if unpaid parking ticket would affect credit score or not, but it did affect my colleague.
Anyways, i guess it is totally subject to each individual's discretion.
Like smt said, if i did sth wrong, i don't mind paying for it and that is.
If the fault is not yours, i definitely agree not to pay and deal with the parking company or collection til the end. Just provide proof and write letter and record time that what you dealt with them and the details.. if it affects your credit, you can still dispute it with equifax or transunion
