You are right, when it comes to China, the western media has double standards.
They always find ways to bash China. When other countries do something, it is right, when China does the same thing, it is wrong.
The Japanese people are orderly because they have a false trust in their government ability of taking care of things.
Most Japanese people and Japanese media have been "harmonized" by their government which is one-party rule anyway.
From what I heard from ppl who are in Japan right now... It's pretty much whatever is reported on CNN. I think ppl there is seeing the same as what we see here.
But how much truth is really there... no one knows. (esp the nuclear plant current status)
But I believe that Japanese ppl are not buying salt there @@.

From what I recall, Japanese voted in the last election to oust the Liberal Democratic Party (自民黨) and government was formed by the Democratic Party of Japan (民主黨) instead. How is that a one-party rule? On the other hand, where is the second political party in PRC except for the Communist Party?
As to the media getting harmonized, Yunan recently had a medium scale earthquake, but due to 兩會 happening in Beijing, no media coverage on the Yunan quake was allowed (as it would divert attention away from the all-important 兩會). In the mean time, coverage of the Sendai earthquake + tsunami + Fukushima nuclear leak keeps coming out of Japan. So which media is getting harmonized?

You little foul mouth Lik, you don't even know for sure how much nuclear waste is getting out from Japanese liars. The Japanese govt has been lying about their nuclear safety for decades. The Japanese people and the Japanese media have been harmonized for decades such that they don't criticize their govt on this issue. The Japanese dare not criticize their govt on this nuclear. issue. This should be clear by now.
Even the western nuclear experts coming on BBC and CNN would agree that nuclear safety standards in Japan is lax.

Japan's Liberal Democratic Party has been ruling for decades since WWII to the point of one-party government. During the same period of time, Japan saw the fastest economic growth in history. Similar for South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Fast economic growth associated with one-party government.
This may be a proof that a developing country needs a one-party government to achieve a period of fast economic growth. Multi-party rule is going to be ineffective for developing countries.
